How to Calculate Sofa Size (Step-by-Step)
Calculate Ideal Sofa Width
Ideally, your sofa should occupy about 80% of the available wall length to maintain visual balance and allow space for side tables.
Ideal Width (in) = Available Wall Length (ft) × 12 × 0.8
Calculate Ideal Sofa Depth
To ensure comfortable movement, limit sofa depth to about 25% of the room's width.
Ideal Depth (in) = Room Width (ft) × 12 × 0.25
Calculate Seating Capacity
Each person needs approximately 24 inches of width to sit comfortably.
